Help Wildlife Carers in the Newcastle/Lake Mac/Hunter area

UNGLAMOROUS CHORES

Wildlife Carers have their hands full. All kinds of wildlife are coming in to care due to fire and drought. People all over the world are organising sewing bees to provide wraps and pouches. Others are donating money.

Softys Clubhouse is helping out by organising working bees for local wildlife carers. Dedicated volunteers are working around the clock to care for wildlife. They are physically and emotionally tired. So if you can spare a day or half day to do yard work, housework and setting up cages and enclosures - wave howdy and we'll see if we can tee up a working bee for you to join.

If you've ever joined a working bee, only to find that there were too many people to do the work and you wasted your time standing around - our working bees are NOT LIKE THAT. As soon as we get 3 or 4 people available at once, we'll line up a job and you will all be busy the whole time. Even just volunteering for one session is enormously helpful.

Also - if you're a good organiser and would like to volunteer to coordinate others - please get in touch. At the mo, this is just a small project, but if we get a few organisers keen to ramp it up, then we'll ramp it up.

Untrained people can't immediately start caring for animals, but we can care for the carers by doing a bunch of unglamorous chores.
